Repair or Repaint?

What to do with the frame? Can it to be repaired while keeping the original paint?

     Spots like this look simple enough.

Spots like this one appear relatively harmless ...

... until I start to cut back the paint ...

... and discover the extent of rust beneath the surface.

Worms like this give away the true extent of rust ..

... and cutting back reveals rust underlying most of the paintwork.

While I don't like the idea, the only way to preserve this frame and get it looking presentable is to completely strip it and repaint with the identical colour.






Before stripping the frame I took it to my local paint specialist and got them to identify the colour and mix a batch.  By priming in gray (green is toxic and no longer available) I should be able to get a good colour match.  Decals are easy to source from ebay member world-cycle-decals.
